| There Are Over 50 Football Leagues In Vic/SA Alone Not to Mention Schools and Even Companies Who Regularly Compete Against Each Other! Below Are The Main Leagues And Links Are to The Left
AFL - Australian Football League: The Premier Professional Football League In Australia, Comprising 16 Teams Coming From Each State Except Tasmania and Currently Neither The Northern Territory or Canberra are represented, However This Is Likely To Change Within The Next 10 Years, and I see a Club from Victoria Moving Possibly Part Time To Canberra. VFL - Victorian Football League: The #1 Domestic State Competition with 18 teams. In Late 1999 Football Victoria was formed. An association with the AFL, VFA, & CVFA All agreeing to field sides in this new competition. All Victorian AFL Clubs Are Represented although some as an Alliance with a VFA Club and others purely as the reserve side to the senior AFL list. Westar Rules - Formerly WAFL. In 1998 The WAFL Officially Changed Its Name as A Part of a new marketing Plan for football in Western Australia. The Same Year a 9th club Peel Thunder was officially admitted to the league. Peel, from the Rockingham/Mandurah Region Of WA, for 2 years was a complete disaster on the field but not off, the people of this region flock to games held at ruston park, Mandurah and despite winning only one game in each of their first 2 Years, Peel have improved this year winning 3 games so far and being competitive in many others. SANFL - South Australian National Football League: The South Australian League For Many Years Has Been Very Strong and would currently be rated the 3rd Best after The AFL & VFL (however WESTAR would Dispute this), Port Adelaide Magpies - The most successful Football Club in Australia have for a long time dominated the Competition and continue to be a rich source of tradition in this football state. 9 Teams Make up the SANFL, Previously 10 Teams Competed However Due to Financial restraints the Woodville & West Torrens Football Club Merged To form the Eagles who currently head the field. |
